vAIn // Rendered Identity: A study in synthetic self-portraits
The brief to myself was to create an artist book that investigates how AI reshapes self-portraiture, identity, and authorship by using myself as both subject and test case. Use AI not as a shortcut or gimmick, but as a collaborative tool to remix personal likeness with art-historical influence.
The outcome should function simultaneously as visual work, critical argument, and process documentation—demonstrating how designers and illustrators can work with AI to construct meaning, aesthetic intent, and authorship in an era of generative images. The book attempts to articulate a position within the contemporary
AI debate while remaining visually coherent, self-reflexive, and conceptually interesting.
